EVERY CHILD IS UNIQUE. IF WE’RE ABLE TO HELP THEM FIND THE RIGHT SCHOOL FOR THEM, THEN WE ARE CONFIDENT THEY WILL SUCCEED. THIS ARTICLE TALKS ABOUT FINDING A COLLEGE THAT IS THE RIGHT FIT.

College Recruiting Specialists has partnered with Virteom to engage future college students, trade students, parents, and anybody looking to learn more about getting into the college or university of their dreams. In this video, Jacqui and Kelly talk about finding the right college that is a good fit.

We help guide parents and students down the road to college. It’s often a longer road than people think and pre-planning is essential. For us, it all comes down to helping them really find the right college for them. Every child is unique if we’re able to help them find the right school for them, then we are confident they will succeed.

THE COLLEGE BECOMES THE STUDENT’S HOME

A college has to be their home for the next 4 years. Success in college is finding a job in the field they study and applying the knowledge they learned there. The number one indicator of those that were successful in college is how much the enjoyed the college they were at.

Those who feel comfortable on their campus and within their curriculum are more likely to get involved and to excel.

HOW DO YOU FIND THE RIGHT SCHOOL WITH OVERWHELMING OPTIONS?

One factor to narrow down your options is your major. There are many majors that have a much smaller pool of schools to look at. So how you narrow that down and find the best schools for your topic of study is an important step.

After that, how does the college itself appeal to you, the student?

WHY YOUR MAJOR PLAYS A ROLE, BUT NOT THE ROLE

Kelly worked with a biology student aiming for med school. At each school, he met with the head of the department. He found his favorite school – toured it and loved everything about it. But, when he met with the head of the department, he came to find that the professor was an eccentric entomologist (he studied bugs and kept them in his office).

The professor’s specialty did not appeal to this student or his career, and this department head would be a large guide of his career at that college. Would his focus be on labs, projects, and research benefiting a student destined for med school? Probably not.

DON’T BASE IT ON ONE FACTOR

College is for the single purpose of finding the career path for you or getting employed and having job security when you graduate. It’s vital to find the right fit for you. Don’t base it on one factor alone: the major, the location, the scholarships, or others. You want to find all of the pieces together to find the right fit among the 6,000 colleges in America.

Go out and visit schools to figure out what you don’t like, that’s important too. It leads you to understanding what matters most to you as you choose that home for the next 4 years.

EVERY CASE IS UNIQUE
